The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an independent, impartial and neutral humanitarian organization whose exclusive mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence.
In Myanmar, the ICRC is committed to the people of Myanmar. The organization works to provide basic but vital assistance to people affected by armed conflict and violence in Kachin, Shan and Rakhine states. It covers a range of humanitarian activities all of which aim to better protect and assist those most affected. It promotes international humanitarian law and universal humanitarian principles. Many of its programmes are carried out jointly with the Myanmar Red Cross.
At present, the organization works with more than 550 staff members, the majority of whom are Myanmar citizens.
