About the Job

The ICRC Logistics Department is looking for a Driver to be based in its Sittwe office. In close cooperation with the team in Sittwe, the Driver will mainly be responsible to provide a reliable service, transport people and goods in a safe and timely manner, in accordance with ICRC Rules and Regulations, and National Traffic Laws within Sittwe region and operating sites in ICRC.

Start date: as soon as possible

Duties and Responsibilities

  • You will drive light vehicles and transport people and/or material.
  • You will transport cargo and ensure that the load is secure as per the vehicle specifications in a proper and safe way.
  • As part of your responsibilities, you will follow up the log books of the attributed cars, kilometer checks and fuel statistics in weekly/ monthly base.
  • You will ensure proper fueling and cleaning of the vehicles and generators.
  • In addition, you will check on daily basic body condition of vehicles and mechanical conditions of the generators and participates in repair works.
  • Furthermore, you will carry out the daily vehicle condition checks and inventory of equipment and accessories of the assigned vehicle as per instructions.

Position Requirements

About you

To be successful as the Driver in the Logistics Department, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:

  • It is required to have a secondary school level or a professional/vocational training as a driver.
  • You should hold a valid driving license for at least 5 years.
  • You should have at least 2 years of work experience as a Driver
  • You must have very good knowledge of the geographically assigned environment and master in off-road driving.
  • You should have basic English language skills. The knowledge of local dialects spoken in the Rakhine State is a definite asset.

We expect you to have the ability to work with different groups, partners and nationalities. You should also be self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles. You should be flexible, enthusiastic and have the willingness to learn from others. You should be able to exercise discretion and have the ability to establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.

The position will be based in Sittwe with frequent travel to other ICRC offices in the country as directed. You should be willing to relocate to Sittwe.
