Economic Security Field Officer

About the Job

The ICRC Economic Security Department is looking for a EcoSec Field Officer to be based in its Maungdaw office. In close cooperation with the EcoSec team in Maungdaw, in Sittwe and in Yangon, the EcoSec Field Officer will mainly be responsible to deliver EcoSec services to the organization in order to improve beneficiaries’ food and income production as well as monitor and evaluate the econocmic situation in Maungdaw with an additional foucs on the on humanitarian situation required by conflicts and/or crisis in Rakhine State.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • You will assists in planning, organizing, implementing and monitoring EcoSec projects and participate in the distributions of seeds, tools, conditional and unconditional cash grants.
  • In addition, you will provide technical input by preparing appropriate educational material and conducting tailored knowledge-transfer to stakeholders.
  • You will act as the technical support for livelihood projects and provides support to beneficiaries, when needed or upon request.
  • Furthermore, you will contribute to the coaching of MRCS volunteers on project design, implementation and evaluation.
  • You will be asked to assists in setting up a simple, easy to follow market monitoring system for key sites as identified.
  • You will support the needs assessments in internal displaced person camps, host villages, resettlement areas as well as origin/return villages.
  • In addition, you will contribute to keep EcoSec program management tool (EPMT) up to date and provides statistics.

Position Requirements

About you

To be successful as the EcoSec Field Officer in the EcoSec Department, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:

  • It is required to have a university degree in a relevant discipline, preferable in forestry, agriculture, veterinary or social and household economy.
  • You should have at least 3 years’ work experience in a relevant field.
  • You must have very good knowledge of the geographically assigned environment.
  • Your should have good communication skills and analytical skills.
  • You should be fluent in written and spoken English as well as Myanmar language. The knowledge of local dialects spoken in the Rakhine State is a definite asset.
  • Previous ICRC experience is also a strong asset.

We expect you to have the ability to work with different groups, partners and nationalities. You should also be self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles. You should be flexible, enthusiastic and have the willingness to learn from others. You should also be able to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision. You should feel confident in managing projects and coordinating with various partners and counterparts. You should have the proven ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and cope with competing demands under tight deadlines. You should be able to exercise discretion and have the ability to establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.

The position will be based in Maungdaw with frequent travel to other ICRC offices in the country as directed. You should be willing to relocate to Maungdaw.
