The ICRC undertakes humanitarian activities in various regions of the country and promotes international humanitarian law and universal humanitarian principles.

About the Job

The ICRC HR Department is looking for an Assistant to be based in its Maungdaw office. In close cooperation with the HR Manager in Yangon ,the team in Sittwe and as well as the Heads of Offices in Maungdaw, the Human Resources Assistant will provide HR administrative and secretarial support, assist with translations from/to English and Myanmar as well as assist with data management.

Start date: as soon as possible

Duties and Responsibilities

  • You will responsible for the well-functioning and well-running of the HR administration and management in Maungdaw.
  • You will perform various office works such as typing, filing, mail preparation and distribution, photocopies, updates of lists, requisition orders.
  • You will assist the staff in archiving documents and electronic files.
  • You will support the HR Assistants in Sittwe and as well as in Yangon in the recruitment & selections processes (e.g. preparing vacancy announcements, job descriptions and interview test, organizing personal interviews).
  • Furthermore, you will assist in the preparation and organization of events such as seminars, workshops and trainings.
  • You will support the HR Assistants in Sittwe and in Yangon to prepare employment contract.
  • You will translate and prepare correspondence from/to English and Myanmar language.

Position Requirements

About you

To be successful as the Assistant in the Human Resources Department, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:

  • It is required to have a university degree / secretary diploma or a degree in a relevant discipline.
  • You should have 2 years of work experience in the relevant field and proven ability to organize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • You should have good computer skills with profound practical knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficiency with Excel or other database software is a clear asset for this positional.
  • You should feel confident in managing administrative work and coordinating with various counterparts.
  • Your communication skills should be excellent and you should be fluent in written and spoken English as well as Myanmar language. The knowledge of local dialects spoken in the Rakhine area is a definite asset.
  • Previous ICRC experience is a strong asset.

We expect you to have the ability to work with different groups, partners and nationalities. You should also be self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles. You should be flexible, enthusiastic and have the willingness to learn from others. You should also be able to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision. You should feel confident in managing projects and coordinating with various partners and counterparts. You should have the proven ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and cope with competing demands under tight deadlines. You should be able to exercise discretion and have the ability to establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.

The position will be based in Maungdaw with frequent travel to other ICRC offices in the country as directed. You should be willing to relocate to Maungdaw.
