The ICRC undertakes humanitarian activities in various regions of the country and promotes international humanitarian law and universal humanitarian principles.

About the Job

The ICRC Logistics Department is looking for a Logistics Officer to be based in its Lashio office. In close cooperation with the supervisor, management and cooperation partner, the Logistics Officer will mainly be responsible to provide technical and operational support in the areas of purchasing, warehousing, stock management and fleet management.

Start date: as soon as possible


Duties and Responsibilities

  • You will carry out cash purchase in Lashio and field locations as instructed.
  • You will follow up the delivery schedule of the goods as per instructions in the relevant purchase order contracts.
  • In addition, you will launch requests for quotation for transport, make selection tables and purchase contracts.
  • You will liaise with dispatch and suppliers for the needs of air, road and rail transportation.
  • You will follow any damage claim and arbitrate with transporters or launch claims on insurance claims database.
  • As part of your duties, you will participate in tender process.
  • You will assist in monthly stock consolidation electronically as well as corresponding paper files and submitted on a monthly basis.
  • Furthermore, you will keep files up-to-date at all times (purchase order files, archive files, requisition order files, vehicles files, supplier files).

Position Requirements

About you

To be successful as the Logistics Officer in the Logistics Department, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:

  • It is required to have a university degree or similar level of professional school.
  • You should have at least 2 years’ work experience in a relevant field.
  • Your communication skills should be excellent and you should be fluent in written and spoken English as well as Myanmar Language.
  • The knowledge of other local languages such as Shan and Chinese is an asset.
  • Previous ICRC experience is also a strong asset.

We expect you to have the ability to work with different groups, partners and nationalities. You should also be self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles. You should be flexible, enthusiastic and have the willingness to learn from others. You should also be able to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision. You should feel confident in managing projects and coordinating with various partners and counterparts. You should have proven ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and cope with competing demands under tight deadlines. You should be able to exercise discretion and have the ability to establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.

The position will be based in Lashio with frequent travel to other ICRC offices in the country as directed. You should be willing to relocate to Lashio.
