About the Job

The ICRC Logistics Department is looking for a Logistics Officer to be based in its Maungdaw office. In close cooperation with the logistics teams in Sittwe and in Yangon, the Logistics Officer will be responsible to provide technical and operational support in the areas of purchasing, warehousing, field supply system as well as support and transportation management.

Start date: as soon as possible

Duties and Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible to carry out various purchases in Maungdaw and field locations as requested by the different departments.
  • You will follow up the delivery schedule of the purchased goods.
  • As part of your responsibility you will launch requests for quotation for transportation, you will develop selection tables and purchasing contracts.
  • You will liaise internally with the dispatcher and externally with the suppliers for the needs of air, sea and road transportation delivering the purchased goods.
  • You will assist in the monthly stock consolidation on a monthly basis.
  • In addition, you will participate in various tender processes.
  • Furthermore, you will supervise and manage requisition orders, purchase orders, stock requisitions, and entry forms, packing lists, claim reports and way bills once the paper files are completed.

Position Requirements

About you

To be successful as the Logistics Officer in the Logistics Department, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:

  • It is required to have a university degree or similar level of professional school.
  • You should have at least 2 years’ work experience in a relevant field.
  • Preferable in commercial or humanitarian logistics.
  • Your communication skills should be excellent and you should have good knowledge of written and spoken English and as well as Myanmar language.
  • The knowledge of local languages is an asset.
  • Previous ICRC experience is also a strong asset.

We expect you to have the ability to work with different groups, partners and nationalities. You should also be self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles. You should be flexible, enthusiastic and have the willingness to learn from others. You should the proven ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and cope with competing demands under tight deadlines. You should be able to exercise discretion and have the ability to establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.

The position will be based in Maungdaw with frequent travel to other ICRC offices in the country as directed. You should be willing to relocate to Maungdaw.
