More about KDDI Myanmar Company Limited
Ever thought of pursuing a job in KDDI Myanmar?
KDDI Corporation is a Japanese telecommunication operator. The company came into being on October 1, 2000 after the merger of DDI (Daini-Denden Inc.) Corp., KDD (Kokusai Denshin Denwa) Corp. and IDO Corp. KDDI Myanmar was formed by investments by KDDI Corporation and SUMITOMO Corporation. Sumitomo is one of the biggest general trading companies of Japan. KDDI is headquartered in the Garden Air Tower in Iidabashi, Chiyoda, Tokyo. Outside of Japan, the KDDI Group has 100 offices, located in 58 cities, and 26 countries now including KDDI Myanmar.
Backed by major Japanese corporations, the goal of KDDI Myanmar is to disrupt the telecommunication sector of the country. This makes KDDI Myanmar jobs quite challenging and interesting. A successful career in such a company can assure great global corporate positions, as good performance can lead to a future in other global markets like Japan. The company provides support to its customers in the form of network construction, system integration and IT support. This helps its customers to effectively increase presence in market by helping them tackle problems typically found within an emerging market. These may include rising lease costs, electric power cut-offs due to shortage and limited on-site resources.
All major Asia-Pacific companies are eyeing the highly coveted and underdeveloped telecommunication space of Myanmar. KDDI Corporation realizes the strategic benefit of the region and has made it very clear to invest significant resources to win the potentially rewarding market. The company has an added benefit to its competitors due to the ‘Japanese Quality’ image it has in the Burmese market. This has helped the company in creating a highly reliable image, in addition to helping the company’s employability with many people eyeing a career in KDDI Myanmar.
With its headquarters in Yangon, Myanmar, near the political power of the nation, the company is able to stay close to the legislative body and help in quickening the execution of its plans. This means that careers at KDDI Myanmar offer a high growth prospective. A new office was opened in 2013, with the opening ceremony including 100 people and some big names in the industry – with the likes of Mr. Ichiro Maruyama, Counselor and Head of the Chancellery of the Japanese Embassy in Myanmar, Mr. Hideshi Mega, Japanese President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Yangon and Mr. Tin Win, CEO of Yadanarpon Teleport, in attendance.
KDDI Myanmar operates in the telecommunications services industry and is involved in providing fixed-line communication, mobile communication, and internet services, with the goal to ease the telecommunication between different parties. In a country where Low-budget smartphones are taking up market share at an unparalleled rate, the company sits in a market with huge potential. KDDI Myanmar careers therefore present a job with a possibility of great growth.
The three major telecommunication operators in Myanmar are Telenor, Ooredoo and state owned MPT (Myanma Posts and Telecommunications). Telenor entered the Burmese market in February 2013 while Ooredoo came in August 2014. Until 2013 state owned MPT (Myanma Posts and Telecommunications) was the only telecommunication operator in the market. The operator enjoyed the top position in the telecommunication operator space till it was displaced by Telenor in July 2014. This was a matter of concern as Telenor had only been in the market since February 2013. Realizing the need to modernize itself, state owned MPT came into a joint venture with KDDI Myanmar. The big Japanese groups KDDI and Sumitomo Corp, (parent company of KDDI Myanmar) plan to invest around two billion USD over the next decade in order to develop one of the least connected country.
The joint venture is between KSMG (KDDI Summit Global Myanmar) and MPT (Myanma Posts and Telecommunications). KSMG was the company’s first subsidiary which entered the market which was a joint venture in itself with the big Japanese group Sumitomo Corp. Since the joint venture in July 2014, MPT was able to sell eight million SIMs making its subscriber base reach 14 million and in turn making sure MPT is again on its way to reclaim its lost position. With the phenomenal growth shown by the joint venture, KDDI Myanmar is now on a recruitment drive. Be sure to see many KDDI Myanmar vacancies springing up in the future.
Building operations in the country requires companies and employees to think outside the box. Accordingly, KDDI Myanmar vacancies are open primarily to talented individuals, with relevant skills and expertise in the field. Combined with this, the company is looking for hardworking people who can think on their feet. The company has so far succeeded with a local mindset it has for the market. The plan remains to be the same and local employment will remain a major part of its recruitment drive.
