Job Description

  • Conduct social compliance audits and monitor labour standards in suppliers’ factories
  • Liaise with suppliers and factories to help them meet our ethical aims
  • Analyze improvements and risk in our factories and carry out assessments to drive our ethical programme forward
  • Develop and implement Myanmar/ Cambodia based projects and provide training to factories
  • Implement all CSR activities in Myanmar/Cambodia
  • Responsible for the 3rd party audit programs in Myanmar and ensure all relevant documents are updated company’s systems
  • Responsible to perform other CSR activities related, such as environmental audits, supply chain mapping, subcontracting detected
  • Proactively identify and communicate supply chain risks, issues, compliance trends and capacity building opportunities to internal team
  • Regular update meetings with Far East team and UK Head Office
  • Regular update on the KPIs
  • Deliver all required reports on a timely basis
  • Build relationship with external stakeholders, such as Brands, government, GMAC, BFC, MAMC, Ngo’s and consultants to further personal development as well as to further the CSR programs at NL.
  • Keep abreast of new Laws and Legislations and communicate those with the CSR Managers
  • Act as an ambassador of our company values and role model for business leadership
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Occasionally international travel is required

Position Requirements

Essential Skills

  • High degree of honesty and integrity essential
  • Capable of providing training to suppliers
  • Strong project development and management’ skills
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, presentation and problem solving skills
  • Self-motivated with good initiative. Must perform well under pressure with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Written and verbal fluency required in both English and Burmese
  • Strong organizational skills with a logical and methodological approach to tasks
  • Team Player who demonstrates diligence


Desirable Skills

  • Fully competent in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge in environment, animal welfare

Knowledge and Experience

  • 5+ years’ relevant working experience with social compliance audit/ environmental audits, apparel/ footwear/ retailers preferred
  • Industrial Engineer background preferred, but not essential
  • Experience with apparel factory operations, monitoring, auditing and remediation
  • Good knowledge of International Labour Organisation (ILO) conventions, ETI Base Code, labour laws and regulations in Myanmar and good understanding of EHS risks in factory environment; knowledge on the apparel factories’ working condition in South east Asia countries is an advantage
  • Project development and management experience
  • Good presentation and investigation skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or above
  • Willing to travel locally and/or overseas.
