Job Description

Main Task & Responsibilities:

  • Provide detailed well design and engineering to optimize performance and deliver maximum long term value. In particular, detailed well drilling operations program including contingency plans and drilling plans, e.g. drilling pipe program, mud selection and methods for recycling drilling fluids.
  • Investigate best practices/learning and incorporate them into design and operational procedures. Optimize well design in cost, functionality and safety metrics.
  • Evaluate and propose alternative well designs and drilling technologies.
  • Demonstrate and provide coaching to junior engineers on knowledge of and experience with selecting, implementing, monitoring and adjusting properties of fluids and mixtures used in drilling for hydrocarbons.
  • Analyzes well bore stability problems and introduces a cost effective of the mud system to prevent down-hole and mud, i.e. well bore cleaning, tight hole, etc.
  • Coordinate and filter Master Equipment Lists.
  • Facilitate scheduling and procurement requirements for well operations.
  • Ensure individual well Cost Estimates are prepared in a timely manner and monitor daily costs while drilling.
  • Manage and coordinate service providers input into well planning and operations activity.
  • Identify and order key long lead items required for well operations.
  • Identify countries regulatory Drilling (and/or logistic) requirement and provide input to Drilling Team.
  • Ensure company Code of Conduct awareness and implementation.
  • Identify risk and develop appropriate risk mitigation plan.
  • Ensure Company’s HSSE and Drilling Policies are incorporated into well designs and operations.
  • Delivery of planning according to Company’s guidelines within the agreed planning schedule. Prepare drilling engineering dispensations. Maintain validity of documents through relevant process.
  • Coordinate Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) work performed by service companies. Raise, follow up and close Non Conformance Reports when appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with well Equipment Assurance Program as required.
  • Perform and document comprehensive risk assessment for operations. Complete Risk register matrix and close all actions prior to planned operations.

Reporting:

  • Ensure all routine drilling and cost control reports are accurate, complete and timely.

 

HSE:

  • Assist the Drilling Superintendent / Senior Drilling Engineer to supervise the HSE system.
  • Act as a member of the Emergency Response Group, supporting the Senior Drilling Engineer in the event of an emergency response situation.
  • Observe all company health, safety and environmental instructions, act in a safe manner and avoid unnecessary risks to themselves and others.
  • Immediately report any unsafe conditions or activities, dangerous occurrences or injuries in the workplace.

Position Requirements

Education

  • Engineering or science degree from a recognized university.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years oil and gas drilling experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years offshore or onshore drilling engineering and supervision.
  • Extensive experience in Drilling Fluids Engineering.
  • Industry training in drilling technology and HSE.
  • Demonstrate leadership and communication skills, technical maturity and flexibility to adjust to change.
  • Good data management and computer literacy.
  • Familiar with Myanmar oil and gas drilling operation will be advantageous.
